Our Founder
I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist(LMFT) and a Certified Employee Assistance Professional(CEAP) and have over twenty years experience providing therapy and coaching services in private practice, federal government agencies, and community-based mental health program settings. More importantly, I have gone through my own personal experience of emotional and physical struggles, which has only enhanced my ability to teach individuals the strategies needed to manage their emotions in order to accomplish transformational success. This is a passion for me because a few years ago, I was struggling in managing my own emotions while balancing my professional and personal life. At work, I was a middle manager in charge of a staff and department that provided intensive mental health services to children, adults, and their families. At home, I was a wife and raising three daughters. So I sometimes struggled to manage my emotions as I dealt with the stress of operating in both these roles. I began to yearn for a support system to hold me accountable. In this yearning, I pondered on a story in the Bible about two sisters, Martha and Mary, and the different ways they managed their emotions. Martha was anxious and irritable. Mary was calm and focused. I began to pray that God would help me to be like Mary. I then gathered a group of women together so that we could support and hold each other accountable in our quest to be transformed from Martha's to Mary's. Though our group no longer meets, we still provide this support and accountability to each other. So my passion is to help others towards this same goal, which is why Martha to Mary LLC exists today.
